What a relief! Having tried all other Chinese restaurants in the Miami Beach area, this was such a godsend. After watching that Netflix documentary In Search of General Tso, I just had to have some, but i'm from the East Coast where Chinese restaurants serve GREAT FOOD, ever since I've moved here i've tasted nothing but disappointment, so I decided to try Mike's. Granted I didn't expect much because of the name for a Chinese restaurant, it makes me picture a frat boy cooking with a yankees hat backwards, but anyways. As the food came in, I opened the General Tso immediately, you always take 1 piece before putting it on your plate for good luck, or just because i'm such a hungry bastard so it's better to believe it has a meaning. The chicken was PHENOMENAL, came in very crunchy, tangy and this is the best part: NOT OVERLY SWEET! Numerous Chinese restaurants overload the sauce with sugar, not Mike's. I could taste the garlic and mild peppery flavors very well. The other dish I had was the Pepper Steak. Oh my goodness, after having been served tire rubber disguised as steak in other restaurants, finally a steak I can eat and not have to chew for 30 minutes. It is seasoned well, the steak has great STEAK texture and not some mystery meat (hey and if it is, at least it tastes just like beef...) Now, this is not THE BEST Chinese food that i've had but this place is a top contender even with the best restaurants up North and that's saying a lot. For the location and price, it damn sure deserves a 5 star review and a tip of my fedora. Hooked on it for sure. Try it, you won't regret it.

I'm writing this review after reading all the other reviews. Felt I should give my thoughts on this place. I've been ordering from Mikes for as long as they've been at this site. Food has always been avg to above avg. Their Honey Chicken is quite good although several years ago they would crisp the fried chunks. Seems like they changed their breading but still a good dish. I love their Chicken Wings (toss them at home with a wing sauce) and their Spicy Red Honey Wings (excellent). Both are polar opposites in taste but highly recommended. We've ordered trays of the spicy wings for parties and games. Always a hit with friends! Lately, the Special Fried Rice has improved considerably from their previous ok rice. Lots of add-ins in the rice. They have Family Pack Specials that are a great deal. They include lg special rice, main dish (honey chicken, general tso's chicken or sweet and sour chicken) and 2 egg rolls. $20. Easily feeds 3 but will allow for a fourth mouth. They have 2 other larger specials for $35 and $45 and you can feed an army. Honestly, they've been at this hole in the wall location for more than 15 years. No eat in due to size of locale so it's take out. Soups are ok. The combo dinners include an egg roll (avg), a small fried rice (ham, chicken), main dish (32 to choose from) and soup or soda. All for $9.95 and enough for two. Also, there's an up charge for special fried rice. Honestly, all the reviews are just that. Reviews. You win some and lose some. This place has consistently delivered throughout the years. I live in the area and could drive 15 minutes for very good Chinese here on the beach but why bother. I recommend this place. I just ordered for dinner the Kung Pao Shrimp combo dinner and it did not disappoint. 6 med shrimp in a mild spice sauce with vegetables. Very fresh and tasty. First time ordering this dish. Also with the fried chicken wings. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

No wonder it's only known for delivery. If you don't want to know how they make the food, don't make the mistake we made by stopping in to order and pick it up. The place is a dive (not in a good way). I cautiously poked my head in (twice) to see if they were still in business because the place is literally falling apart. Why should appearance matter? It's a carry-out joint after all. Well, if you go to a place where you don't want to touch anything, should you really be eating the food that's made there? But ignore the sanitation issue, ignore the rude lady that took our order, and it's all about the food right? Not here. The food... ordered two main dishes and fried rice. Very average, very generic Chinese fast food. If you like that sort of food delivered then this is the place for you. Just think nice thoughts while you bite into that "chicken" or "pork".

Having grown up in the Northeast, I can safely say I know my Chinese. And having lived in Florida for 10 years, I can say that Chinese food in Florida is generally awful, unless it's of the gourmet variety. Until I found Mike. Fast delivery, super cheap, and always delicious. The sweet and sour chicken is my favorite, General Tso also. They use full chicken breast as opposed to the mystery meat so common in most Chinese take-out. Broccoli in Garlic Sauce is another favorite. Always substitute the Vegetable fried rice, and order spring rolls instead of egg rolls, as they're a bit too salty.

  • M Z.

As another Mike, I don't vouch for any place unless they earn it. This is a great park, walk in, order, go make your 10 min beer run and come back to pick it up place. The pork and the curry chicken were good, the dumplings were just right as well. We're picky about our non-chain Chinese restaurants after having to leave our beloved Mandarin House in San Diego when we moved here. We'll continue looking for other gems and Mike's will definitely be a staple in our rotation. The best part about the location is that it can be reached using the back streets to- and from it.

Let me just say... DO NOT judge Mike's for the hole in the wall that it is! This is by far the best take-out I have ever had and will CONTINUE to have. My family and I hardly ever order in.. but when we do, we order EVERYTHING.... and Mike's has it all. Some of my favorites are: Honey Garlic Chicken (they're known for this dish and it is a must-have!) Orange Peel Crispy Beef They're affordable, their service is great and delivery is quick!

Found this place on Yelp...and it happened to be less than a block from where I was staying. SCORE! Food is AMAZING! Hole in the wall joint (literally) and just what I was looking for. Have tried quite a few things on the menu and it's all delicious. Large portions for very fair prices. And they deliver! LOVE IT!

  • Brooke B.

Good value. Huge portions. And so fast! Definitely go for the honey garlic chicken (but beware it's super deep fried, not just lightly fried). It's really yummy with the veggie fried rice. Eggrolls are good too. Pass on the veggie lo mein.. its very mediocre. Also, note that it is ONLY takeout and delivery, not seating at the restaurant

Called this place on a wednesday night based on some of the reviews here. Was staying the courtyard marriott. Got chicken lomein and szechuan chicken with wonton soup egg roll and spring roll. Was doubtful but im glad i was proved wrong. Delivery was within 30 min, it came hot (important) and straight to the hotel door. Utensils included and well boxed. Food tasted as good as i would expect from a chinese spot. Decent flavors, yummy egg roll. Soup was a little bland. Removing pne star for the soup and bc the szechuan chicken was not spicy at all and he forgot to include hot sauce. Would order again if in the area.

pay attention what is the"chef special" , COME ON!! Chicken ""coating"" with pre-made tao, garlic, honey, other taste-like Asian flavor. why bother to your store? just go PUBLIX can have fast and good too. Or because the cooker is Asian face so give more "star" and "tip" here? Normal fried rice with checken for $28.00.....WHAT?? So many silly people give this 5 star credit. Carzy and crazy stupid people in Miami Beach area...

Took 1.5 hours for deliver, food was cold & disgusting. Called to complain and the lady that answered said 'Well what do you want me to do about it?' Done. Scratching this one off the list.

Wholeheartedly unimpressed and underwhelmed. Delivery took over an hour, the lo-mein was dry and bland, the pork had a weird flavor. Total meh.

The delivery wasn't as slow as some others experienced here. The food was nothing special but it was enjoyable. Lady on the phone was kinda short. Delivery came without utensils although they knew I was in a hotel.

I ordered the $9.99 Honey Chicken dinner combo for delivery. Came with: wonton soup (other choices: hot & sour and egg drop), egg roll, chicken fried rice (other choices: pork or vegetable), & a standard fortune cookie. No utensils were included. Customer Service: Curt, straight to the point ordering. Accent was not the easiest to understand. Option of cash or credit card. Delivery: I believe the delivery fee for my area was $2 (it was scrawled on the receipt and barely legible). Took ~45 minutes for the delivery to arrive. Food: Mediocre but hot. -The wonton soup came with those crunchy egg noodles which were sadly stale and very much the opposite of crunchy..... -Egg roll: I like Yummy's better because it's crunchier, filled with more filling and comes with a delicious mango sauce. This was somewhat crunchy on the outside but lacking much filling and the inside was a little doughy. No dipping sauce. -Chicken fried rice: A little bland but you get a very large amount of it! -Honey Chicken: I'll be honest- was not that impressed. I ordered it because it was the dish they said they were known for and it really just reminded me of a honey chicken sopapilla. For those of you who may not know what a sopapilla is, it's a fried pastry that can be deliciously drenched with honey- but when it comes to my chicken, I want its savoriness to stand out more so than the honey. As much as I love honey, this chicken was a tad too sweet for my taste. Overall it was OK. Portions ARE large but unless you're a quantity over quality person, I wouldn't say that should be a deciding factor. I would say from this experience, Yummy's has a slight edge over Mike's, but both places are nothing really to write home about. They do the job, let's just say.

Good Chinese food is hard to find in Miami. Mike's china beach is not authentic, nor is it amazing. It is good, and the cuisine seems fresh, but it is not comparable to Chinese food in other cities, but it is some decent delivery food. I ordered General Tso's chicken. Well.. it was a chicken breast in a sauce that resembles general sauce, however it kind of missed the mark in a lot of areas. It was 'good', but not what I was expecting. I requested extra spicy, it was not.. I would skip this dish. The egg rolls were OK, they appeared fresh and not frozen. They didn't have a great taste, but just like the tso it was edible. My girlfriend ordered the Sweet & Sour chicken.. which was pretty good. She loved it, but she does not like 'authentic Chinese' which you can probably tell by the sweet & sour selection.. This is americanized-chinese cuisine aimed at a demographic that doesn't know what real chinese cusine should taste like.. I will probably be forced to order it again.. next time I will just skip the General Tso's.

It certainly isn't designer cuisine but it was perfect for delivery to my hotel when a week of boring same bland room service wouldn't do. Very friendly service and large portions. Great convenient option.

A group of us were staying at the Fontainebleau and got a little hungry. We thought about throwing down for a nice meal at Gotham Steak or Hakkasan but after remembering the 26 dollars I spent on one cocktail at the pool bar earlier that day, that idea was quickly nixed. Next thought? Pizza. But then someone suggested Chinese and it was a done deal. When it comes to Chinese, I am happy with just about everything. We ordered lots of things from beef lo mein to kung pao chicken and mongolian beef. But what blew me away? The sweet and sour chicken! This is not like your normal sweet and sour chicken that you have to pour the sauce on yourself. This comes ready to eat and was honestly the best I have ever had. We also got a bucket of chicken fried rice and let me tell you, this is one big bucket! We couldn't even make a dent on it before going out to LIV but you can bet the entire thing was devoured when we got back from the club. The food was hot and they provided us with lots of condiments and utensils to eat it with. With all the options in South Beach, Mike's definitely stands out as a great one.

Let's me honest, the Chinese food delivery places in Miami beach, well, Miami in general, SUCK! I came across Mikes China Beach on yelp and I am glad I did. It's not excellent but it is by far the best Chinese delivery on the beach. I had the chicken and broccoli and wonton soup. The chicken and broccoli was great, fresh and well done. The wonton soup was mediocre and the complimentary fried noodles were stale :( Would I order from here again? Absolutely. The food itself was much better than any other chinese option. Be aware, they deliver to south beach but BE PATIENT.

I preface this to say that like a few people here, I'm a New Yorker - proud and blunt. Chinese food courses through our blood. It's a friggin' mainstay. Pizza (real NY greasy pizza), giant bagels, knishes and hot dogs and a serious cup of java do as well but that's beside the point. Maybe San Francisco can compare...but, I digress. Anyway, I've lived on Miami Beach for a few years and have on occasion bemoaned the dearth of decent Chinese food here, much less Chinese Food Delivery, which I'll call CFD. If I had $100 for every time I longed for CFD; well...I'd be back in NYC or in SF in my fabulous loft. Still it's hard to ignore the primal urges that arise from time to time. That need to taste a decent General Tsao's once again. Or maybe Kungpao. Or that desire to sip at a hearty-flavored wonton soup. Anything. I've tried most of the ones in SoBe. I'll stop there. My mother raised me right - if you have nothing good to say, silence is golden. Then someone mentioned Mike's China Beach. I admit I was skeptical at first. I mean - Mike? - but whatever. So I looked it up on Yelp and read some of the reviews. Skepticism slowly shifted to intrigue. I went to the website. And laughed. There's not a hint of flash, no Miami music pumping in the background, not even photos of food. Honestly, I find there's something ultimately charming in such a no-frills website. And this one is a winner. Bottom line, they're not trying to be anything but what they are. I admire that. It speaks of confidence. I picked up the phone and dialed. I sighed with delight when the guy who answered brought me back to Brooklyn. He talked fast, got the order right on the first try and hung up. Delivery was promised in 45 minutes. Happily anticipating digging in, CFD arrived in 20 minutes. A total treat! Barely 5 minutes later, I was scarfing it down like a frat boy in a beer haze. It looked amazing. It tasted awesome. Between periodic rumbles of glee, I barely stopped for breath. (Anyone who knows me knows I'm a picky eater and rarely finish what's put in front of me.) Hey, I'm not perfect. In any event, that wasn't the case here. I ordered enough to feed a small village. I figured: go for broke. I ordered their honey chicken (wasn't in the mood for General), special fried rice, spicy red honey wings, wonton soup and a 2 liter bottle of Coke. Then I took a nap. When I woke up I went at again. Should I be embarrassed to admit that? Well, I'm not. Not when memories of Nirvana still swarm. I'm not a foodie, by any means, but this place hit me in the heart - in a good way. So...it's now my "reach for the phone for take-out" spot.

Better the second time around (or otherwise I am just getting used to the fact that there is almost no good chinese food in this city). I would order delivery from them again probably.

  • Nir R.

Pretty good delivery Chinese. The only place on the beach I will order from although that is not saying much... But some things are hit or miss. Mongolian beef good! Crab Rangoon kind of gross- first time I ever had it- is it supposed to have powdered sugar on it? Not yummy But overall good place

    (4)
  • Tony A.

I'm going to start and say that this place delivers fast and reliably. I've ordered it about three times. They get high marks in the delivery column. Unfortunately I can't give them high marks in the food department. This is really sub standard Chinese American food in my opinion. The fried rice is pretty good, but everything else tastes like you could buy it at the supermarket frozen food section. Can't stress enough how good the delivery is, so if you just want chinese food fast, then this is the place. If you are on the beach and want some better food, you might need to go some place else for it. It's also kind of expensive for the quality of food.

I tried this place after reading a few of the yelp reviews. When I pulled up I wasn't to thrilled about the way it looked but I still gave it a shot and im glad I did. The food is well priced for takeout and prepared rather quickly. I've liked what I've ordered so far ( crab rangoon, shrimp w/ veggies, spring rolls, broccoli w/ garlic sauce and the shrimp fried rice.) For a takeout place I cant complain.

  • Lavi M.

Ok. I'm not sure exactly why this place has been given 4 stars, but in the words of Method Man, I come to bring the pain! Went here tonight for a quick supper and I'd just like to tell my fellow Yelpers that gave this place a good review that y'all didn't have to do a sister like that! This food is GARBAGE! GARBAGE, I tell you! First of all, I arrived at the place and was kind of afraid to get out of my car! Hey, did you guys know that even Miami Beach had a ghetto? Well, guess where Mike's is??? (Spoiler alert: THE GHETTO!). So when I go into the "restaurant," which is little more than a corner apartment turned into a hood-rigged chow spot, I'm barely greeted by two unfriendly faces. I started to turn around and leave, but I remembered all the good reviews and decided against it. Well... now I know why my mother always told me to follow my first mind; because you can NEVER go wrong when you do! (There you go, kids! Learn from my mistake! ) Anyway, I paid for my food, and left Baby Compton... Oops... I mean, "glamorous" Miami Beach. Moving on, I'd driven 7 miles to get the food and was now STARVING, so I decided to crack open my spring roll. It was tasty, but nothing to jump for joy over. Then, I decided to grab a piece of the honey garlic chicken out of the container. That was when I realized that the aluminum tray only had about 10 chicken chunks in it. Now, I know I'd ordered the dinner special, but at every other place that I'd ever bought honey garlic chicken from had more than 10 or so pieces of chicken in it. (By the way, I counted at a red light: there were exactly 11 chicken chunks in the tray.) Anyway, the chicken was fried well (nice and crispy), but it was missing something... What's the stuff called again??? Oh, yea... GARLIC! Like really, dude? If wanted crispy fried chicken with honey, I could've driven the mile and a half to Popeye's. At least when you order from Popeye's, you KNOW it's going to be good. I mean, you may have a heart attack right after, but that's just a mere formality, right? So anyway, I rolled on, but decided to check and see what else was in the bag. Or should I say, what WASN'T in the bag, which was my wonton soup. She was nice enough to give me a Coke instead of soup. How nice was that? Giving me something that I didn't order/want/pay for always makes me feel SO HAPPY. Whatever! Anyway, so I get home and decide to dust off the few honey chicken nuggets I had left with a bit of the chicken fried rice that I'd ordered as part of the combo. It looked pretty good, so I was kind of excited because I just KNEW this would be a damn sight tastier than the $10 chicken nuggets, right? WRONG! How the hell do you mess up fried rice? I could've made fried rice better than that using hot dogs as the meat! The rice had absolutely no flavor, and the chicken had a lingering burnt taste to it. Really, Mike's China Beach? I can't believe people from NYC have actually given this place good reviews! The Brooklynite in me can't bring herself to do so. I would never bring myself to eat this stuff again. I'd starve first!

Best Chinese food we've ever had. It's a takeout joint, but our mistake walking there was so worth it. They were incredibly nice to us. They will deliver to your hotel.

Phenomenal food, blew away my expectations for delivery. Seriously. Beyond reasonable pricing, incredibly tasty food. Count me in. I recommend the honey chicken, but I've had over 10 entrees from Mike's and they've all been fantastic.

They deliver all the way down to 9th and Jefferson! But dont let that fool you into thinking its worth ordering from them... Its definitely not the best Chinese food in South Beach. Yummy's is better I got the orange chicken dinner special and BF got the szechuan spicy chicken meal. The meal was large and we could have probably shared one meal. The orange chicken had a strange brown glaze on the chicken, and It tasted like burnt corn syrup or something, not like the way I have had it in the past. The rice had almost no taste and I didn't eat much of it. The szechuan chicken had almost no taste either and BF didn't like it much. Since he's not picky thats a really bad review :( In my opinion Yummy's Chinese food on the beach is much better and its about the same price, maybe even a little cheaper. Also their delivery is super quick.

Wow, I searched yelp for a decent chinese place on Miami Beach since I'm in town for business. The food is reasonably priced, good portion size and the staff are great. I called around 9pm, basically starving, hoping that delivery wouldn't take too long. And in 10 minutes they were at my hotel. I ordered the shrimp with broccoli and hot and sour soup. It was pretty tasty and I have leftovers for tomorrow too. So far I'm a fan, probably will order the honey chicken next time, seems to be their specialty.

Best Chinese food in Miami Beach. Best Chinese delivery I've had in South Florida. But that's not saying much. Their delivery is slow, the food is always cold. They are rather expensive (though I do think they have decent lunch deals). I mean, it's edible, I order it once in awhile, but every time I do I end up thinking, 'Man, what I wouldn't do for Chinese food in Los Angeles or New York City!" Since I'm not in either of those places, this is acceptable.

Honestly, this is the best chinese food on Miami Beach. I've been going to Kim's on Lincoln for years, and the quality of food just isn't what it used to be. Then I went to Yummy's but it was still not that good. I actually found Mike's through Yelp and I decided to try it out. The food here is great! The food is made when you order and is always fresh. I ordered the Honey Chicken and it was delicious. I also like that you can order brown rice instead of white, which isn't always available at a fast food place.

Ordered from here based ONLY on yelp reviews. Bed bound so no going out. I trust on my Yelpers... Keep you posted . So, here's the review. I am fully amazed... My history of Chinese is New York, or rather BROOKLYN... where there is a Chinese take out place on every corner... food is $6, delivery is 10 minutes, and the food is drowned in MSG heaven..... So here or mostly everywhere you either have to sit down at fancy Chinese place (mostly chains) in order to get an Americanized version of "chinese"... So I gave up on Chinese in S. FL... So based on Yelp reviews I decided to give Mike's a shot... Yes, yes, yes... Based on Yelpers I ordered the General Tzo's chicken, the appetizer plate, wonton soup and a chicken lo mein.... Portions are huge. They were quick... awesome. I was really impressed. The broth for the won ton had a great flavor! The General Tzo's chicken was amazing, they were literally fillet's of chicken breasts, legit chicken! and so yummy... the app plate was up to par, simple and to the point, a little bit of something... The thumb downs is the lo mein... it looked fine but had a burnt taste, like as if the pot had been burnt prior... that was a shame. My second favorite thing is having leftover Chinese... Don't think I'm nasty, but I love day old cold Chinese, but the lo mein was not... just not... So, excellent spot... just was dissapointed with the lo mein...

Relatively fast delivery - CHECK! Reasonably priced food - CHECK! Delivery that arrives with crisp, fresh vegetables - CHECK CHECK!!! I'm IN! The BF has ordered several times for lunch, but we did a Saturday evening dinner delivery and were impressed. The dinner combos were each $10 and they came choice of soup (eggdrop, hot and sour or wanton), choice of fried rice and choice of eggroll or spring roll. There was a bit of a language barrier on the phone and the BF said the woman got irritated with him when he asked her (politely! I heard his end!) to repeat herself, but other than that, A+ Food arrived reasonably quickly and it was not overly oily or greasy AT ALL. I ordered tofu with veggies - I had the choice of fried tofu, which I should have picked, or plain, which I did pick. Veggies were plentiful and crisp. I opted for the hot and sour soup (excellent!) and the spring roll, which had an overly mushroom funk to it. BF enjoyed his eggroll, I sampled the eggdrop soup (good) and he had shrimp and lobster sauce, which he thought was OK. Would definitely order from here again!

little tel aviv is surreal and so is this little chinese eatery that sits kindof hidden at a shopping plaza on 47th street. this is definitely a delivery place as you may get scared if you actually walk into their location. i called for take out. the lady who picked up the phone and took my order had no manners. she didnt even say the basic things like 'hello' or 'thank you'. so i picked up my orange chicken and i ate it cause i was hungry. i worked in the area for over two weeks and i never went back to this place. its scary, but im sure they do great on christmas day.

After seeing the amount of stars this place had, I assumed it would be at least decent or good. I was completely WRONG! I ordered their honey garlic chicken, which they claim to be the most popular item. It tasted like garbage. On top of that I also ordered the chicken lomein, which had no flavor and no vegetables. Just pale colored noodles with some cabbage and chicken pieces. I got the vegetable fried rice and chicken fried rice. Both were very nasty and tasted like its been sitting in the rice pot since last week! Can we say stale?! I lastly also had ordered the shrimp and vegetables. Again, was very dissappointed. This had nothing in it but some shrimp and cabbage. WHere were the vegetables?! I'm used to seeing baby corn, more bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, and snap peas. I literally had one snap pea in there and one bamboo shoot. I would steer clear of this place. What a waste of money!

The worst Chinese food I have had in ages. A friend and I got it delivered under the premise of simply wanting greasy Chinese food. The Mongolian Beef was almost inedible, I actually recooked it myself at home in order to eat it. The cashew chicken was tasteless and the steamed dumplings were not good. I had heard good things but it was really awful and I won;t be ordering again--not to mention, it wasn;t cheap!

People need to know about Mike's. I know the name is not what comes to mind when you think of Chinese, but it is some of the best I have ever had. The portions are huge, the chicken is fresh and the delivery is awesome. I was making the drive to Miss Yips when we had the urge and one night just decided to look up someone local. If you are in the 60's on or around Collins, give Mike's a call. You will not be disappointed.
